ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Friday organizers held a lunch, complete with games and door prizes for the elderly.

Organizers said the event is to celebrate older American's month and the Older American's Act.

The act was approved by congress for another five years.

The event was also held in fourteen centers in fourteen counties, but was almost only in Albany.

"We used to try to bring everybody from fourteen counties, and it was somethin' else. Y'know getting them here, and getting them home, and everybody needing a chair. We decided to do it this way several years ago," said Kay Hind, Executive Director for SOWEGA Council on Aging.

Participants from Miller Coors also joined in to help with the event, serving cakes for the visitors to enjoy.

They also recognized Carrie Mathis, the oldest woman at 103.
