ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Memorial Day favorite for many, besides barbecue, is some fresh watermelon or cantaloupe.
A South Georgia man brought in about 3,500 pounds of melons to Albany on Friday. His load was so heavy he couldn't drive more than 45 miles per hour down the road.
Benny King's back bumper nearly hit the ground. He said he'll be set up at the fruit stand near the corner of Palmyra Road and Slappey Boulevard all day Saturday.
"People are going on taste. If they taste good, they com back and by again. So I have repeat customers that come and get another one you know," said King.
King will be on the corner of Palmyra and Slappey from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday, and at the same time on Monday.
