DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - A former and future Dougherty County Commissioner spoke for the first time Thursday night after winning back her old seat Tuesday night.
Gloria Gaines served as District 5 commissioner for six years before an unsuccessful bid to become commission chairman two years ago.
She said that she wants to bring more jobs to the area, broaden the tax base, create a safer community and support education.
"I just so much look forward to joining my soon to be colleagues on the County commission to talk about ideas for progressing this community," said Gaines.
Gaines will take office in January and commended her opponent Harry James for running a clean campaign, and appreciates the work he has done on the commission.
