Albany hosts DUI task force

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia State Patrol's Nighthawks DUI task force will concentrate on drunk drivers between Albany and Columbus.

The six-man squad will be patrolling the roads from 9:00 at night until 5:00 in the morning.

These troopers are coming from the Macon area, and will start riding the roads immediately.

The high number of drunk-driving wrecks in our area contributed to the decision to locate the Nighthawks in Albany.

In a three-night period, there were 98 DUI arrests in Dougherty, Lee, and Worth Counties last December.

The Nighthawks squad was formed in 2004.
