ALBANY, GA (WALB) - School is out for summer, and some dedicated substitute teachers are now getting the appreciation they deserve.
Throughout the year, nearly 100 subs have worked for the Lee county school system.
On Wednesday, they met for lunch at Newman's to celebrate the end of the school year and their hard work.
Substitute coordinator Amy Bacon said that this is the third year they've held this luncheon for the substitute teachers who come in last minute to help.
"I don't think they get appreciated enough. For me, this is a thank you to them. Our schools step in. They've donated prizes. They don't know it, but their lunch is paid for today. So it's an exceptional day for me," said Bacon.
Bacon said that they're always in need of more substitutes.
