ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

DeAndrea Anderson has only been running track for three years, but it was just enough to take her talents to the next level.

Anderson's mother was ecstatic to send her daughter off to Paine College.

DeAndrea plans to run the 800 and 4 by 4 relay for the Lions. She currently holds the Monroe school record for her time in the 800 meter run (2:18:55).

Paine finished 4th place in the SIAC this past season, Anderson will bring championship experience to Augusta.

This news comes a few weeks following the AAAA state championship for Monroe. This is the second Lady Tornado to announce she will sport purple in the Fall.

Anderson will join teammate Kandice Clyde who signed to Paine around this time last month.

"She told me that coach Mike (Hamer) is really cool to be around and he don't play games and he is going to get us where we need to be," said Anderson.

She credits much of her recent success to her family and the leadership of the  Monroe track program.
