The 2016 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Bradenton, Florida, so the Albany State athletes won't have far to travel.
On the men's side, Cervantes Jackson and Daniel Oduah are representing for the Golden Rams.
Jackson qualified for the triple jump. He boasts the second-highest mark this year in the nation. The freshman from Bainbridge already took the top spot at the SIAC championships.
Gold medals at conference are nothing new for Oduah.
He is the back to back SIAC champion in the high jump, and will look to place at the national meet in just his second year as a Golden Ram.
"It would be a culmination of a lot of hard work," said Oduah. "A lot happened in the past 2 seasons for me so to get on that podium would mean a lot."
Jackson also expects nothing better than first place.
"I strive to be the best," said Jackson. "So if I'm not the best, I'm going to be disappointed in myself."
And on the women's side, Irrion Conaler has the 7th best 400-meter hurdle time in the nation.
The senior was the first lady ram to ever complete the event in under a minute, eclipsing a record from 2001. She's looking to improve her record in Florida.
"I've been working on it," said Conaler who compete at nationals as a freshman. "Putting a lot of hard work in. Going to the sand dunes and coming in practicing with the guys."
The team leaves Tuesday morning. The meet starts on Thursday and runs through Saturday out at IMG Academy.
