ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police Chief Michael Persley has reached the anniversary of his first year on the job as the head cop.
He said he wants to continue to improve community involvement with his officers.
Chief Persley said he is grateful for the "Back The Blue" program, and how private citizens in Albany have shown support for law enforcement.
The Chief said he wants his officers to continue to show respect in every interaction.
"Think about it if that was your mother, your father, your brother, sister, whomever. And if that was yourself, how would you want to be treated?" asked Persley.
Chief Persley said he wants the Albany Police to be an organization that the best officers will want to work for, but added they continue to have to compete for those best people.
