SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) -

Kids explored the machines that help keep their communities up-and-running in Sumter County.

The Mighty Machines Family Safety and Learning Expo featured equipment from garbage trucks to fire engines. The event is a fundraiser for the Junior Service League.

The funds from the expo will also help a Cordele family who lost their home in a fire.

"We've been here for years. We love our community. We try to see it prosper and grow by just giving back. That's our motto. We love to give back,” said Junior Service President Christie Umpleby.

Organizers said all funds raised from the event will end up helping businesses and groups in Sumter County.
