ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Albany is playing host to the Best in the South Shootout this weekend.
The basketball tournament features five divisions and 24 teams. Admission for the AAU tournament is $7 dollars per day, or $12 for the whole weekend.
The organizer Chris Cameron brought in teams from East Alabama to North Florida.
And of course the tournament has plenty kids from across the 229.
"That's the area we wanted to try and get players to come from so we can see kids, see what they look like, and see if we could try and get them the necessary exposure," said Cameron. "AAU is a good tool for that."
Team Power is a 5th grade team in the tournament from Albany. One of their players said he loves playing close to home.
"It's a great feeling," said Andrico Jackson. "My family gets to come to the game, everybody in my family. And then it's more competition than going to another city. You know how everybody plays."
The tournament continues through the weekend. The championship games will be at Turner Community Sunday afternoon.
