THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The City of Roses could look like something out of a movie soon.
Pre-production is underway for a new movie that will be filmed in Thomasville.
The film is called Celeste. It's about a young man who loses his wife from an illness, who believes he can't move on because his late wife is haunting him. He then has to relive memories to find out why she's following him.
The production company, Thirdwheel Productions, says it has a little spook to it, but it is a family-friendly film.
The film's producers say movies that come to Georgia are mostly filmed in Atlanta and Savannah, so they wanted to showcase a different part of Georgia, and they wanted to find a film that would fit Thomasville.
Brad and Courtney Wheeler have spent most of their careers working in the film industry.
The Wheelers lived in Thomasville until the early 2000s. They moved to Hollywood where they both worked on featured films, commercials, and TV shows. Now they're back in Thomasville and hope to give the city some exposure with Celeste.
Celeste will also be a learning opportunity for some area students. Brad Wheeler is not only a director, but also a part-time film teacher.
"Education is a huge component of what we're doing. I teach part-time film at a local high school and so some of my kids from that school are able to come during the summer and work on the production," said Brad Wheeler.
Filming is planned to begin in July.
The Wheelers are also looking for to fill a few additional roles and need extras.
They will have an open casting call starting on Monday, May 23, 2016. Anyone who is interested should email the production company at email@example.com.
