DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Substitute teacher Mary Egler is making a second run to unseat District 152 Representative Ed Rynders after losing two years ago.

She says she won't be beholden to the NRA and is glad Governor Nathan Deal vetoed the campus carry bill.

"Because someone's legally of age and passes a background check does not mean they are capable of handling a firearm and having one. Just look at the people who have legally gotten guns and went on shooting sprees."

Egler says kids are the nation's greatest asset and every single job matters.

She faces Rynders in next week's Republican primary. No Democrat is running in the race.
