CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

Law enforcers in Crisp County took time on Wednesday to honor those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Troopers, sheriff's deputies and police officers remembered 6 people that died on the job.

The Sheriff's Office started the memorial service several years ago.

Sheriff Billy Hancock said that every year is emotional.

"You know that each and every day when they leave their home that there's a possibility that they're not going to make it back that evening," said Sheriff Hancock. "So this brings those feelings and those emotions to the top but gives an opportunity to thank those that have already given that ultimate sacrifice."

The event honored former Police Chief W.H. Forrest, Police Sergeant C.H. Watson, Police Sergeant Haralson, as well as Trooper Young, Trooper Bass Junior and Trooper Stewart with the Georgia State Patrol.
