The Nashville Police Chief says that Sergeant David L. Register, a 25 year veteran of law enforcement and 22 year veteran of Nashville PD, died suddenly Monday, from unexpected medical complications at the age of 53.
"It is with very heavy hearts, that the officers and staff of the Nashville Police Department announce the death of one of their own," said Chief Chuck Edwards.
Sergeant Register began his career with the Adel Police Department in 1990, then served with the Cook County S.O. before joining Nashville PD in 1993. He later served with the Lakeland Police Department From 1997-1998 before rejoining Nashville PD full time.
In addition to his full time law enforcement career, he had been a volunteer firefighter with the Chaserville Fire Department and was also a certified EMT, and worked with local ambulance and medical transport services for many years.
"The hearts, thoughts and prayers of the officers and staff of the Nashville Police Department are with David’s family, especially his wife and three daughters," said Edwards.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
