ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia's Click It or Ticket campaign begins May 23.
That means officers from all over the state will be making sure Georgia drivers and their passengers are buckled up.
Memorial Day weekend typically brings heavier traffic, according to Colonel Mark W. McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
"Troopers will be patrolling for unsafe drivers on the interstates and secondary roads throughout the weekend. They will concentrate on locating impaired drivers, unrestrained drivers and passengers, speeding violations as well as distracted drivers during their holiday patrols," said McDonough.
It's important to note that since Georgia has a primary belt law, an officer can stop any driver they see who is unbuckled.
Expect increased patrols starting Monday May 23 until June 5.
