The Firebirds were a no-show in Savannah.
Albany's indoor football team was supposed to play the Steam in the Savannah Civic Center Saturday evening. Instead the Firebirds forfeited the game because of transportation issues.
According to the team, two of the wheels on the team bus started smoking on the way to Savannah. According to the Crisp County Fire Department, the team then boarded a bus from Tifton.
The Firebirds notified the Steam and were forced return to Albany.
The forfeit resulted in a 2-0 loss, while the Steam still held a contest against a team named the "Falconz"
That was the regular season finale for the Georgia Firebirds' first year.
