Arrest made in Moultrie murder case

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office formally charged Miguel Angel Mares Medina, 37, with Felony Murder for the death of Ramiro “Oscar” Hernandez, 31, today. 

Preliminary autopsy results found that Hernandez died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Colquitt County Deputies responded to a fight at 699 Sardis Church Road on Saturday, May 7th involving Hernandez and Medina. 

At that time, Medina was arrested and charged with Battery.  Hernandez sustained injuries during the fight but refused medical treatment. 

Neighbors found Hernandez’ body Monday evening, May 9, 2016.  

Witnesses reported seeing Hernandez alive as late as Sunday afternoon.

Medina is being held in the Colquitt County Jail.
