ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Political Action Committee of the Albany Metro Area Pan Hellenic Council held a candidate forum downtown. Voters heard from the Dougherty County Coroner Candidates.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler is being challenged by Donchester "Pete" Johnson.
Fowler says he's allowed more than 30 interns to shadow him and get jobs with law enforcement agencies.
Johnson has been in the funeral home industry for more than 20 years.
"I will make sure that as your Dougherty County Coroner that nobody else's loved one will be put in a body bag face down and disfigured," said Donchester "Pete" Johnson, Dougherty County Coroner Candidate.
"I want to empower students that are coming along too," said Michael Fowler, Dougherty County Coroner. "I also want to work closely with the law enforcement for the knowledge that I bring to the table. We working together can maybe solve crime quicker when it comes down to a death."
Fowler says he's worked 17 major disasters in the country.
Johnson says he wants to make sure families are taken care of during their times of need.
