The Darton golf team is on a roll. They are making their final tune-ups before heading to the national championships.
The Cavs are getting some of their final practices in at Double Gate Country club.
They leave for Melbourne Florida on Saturday to compete as one of 23 teams in the NJCAA national championship.
Darton finished first in the region and 3rd in the district to qualify for the big one. No strangers to success, the past two years the Cavs placed 4th in the nation.
They will look to bring home the big trophy this year for the first time since 2007.
As for playing on the national stage, head coach Gary Hilton admits it's a different animal, but he says they won't change the winning formula that has earned them success all season long.
"You've got college coaches from around the country scouting," said Hilton. "A lot more spectators around. it's a big deal. 23 of the best teams in the country show up, so it's a lot of people there to watch."
"They just told us keep our heads together," said freshman golfer Finlay Mason. "It's exactly the same week in and week out. It's the same game we're playing. Obviously a different trophy but its the same game."
Darton's top 5 golfers will tee off in the First round on Sunday out at Duran Golf Club.
