DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Law enforcement in Dougherty and Lee County team up once again for a good cause.
Several organizations and multiple officers laced up their running shoes for the Special Olympic Torch Run today.
About forty runners from different agencies ran the five-mile course from Pine Avenue to Publix to show their support for the upcoming event.
"This is a great cause, which we know. The Special Olympics is in support of our athletes with special disabilities. And who not to be the front runners or the supporters as law enforcement officers. So we take great pride and support in this cause year after year," said Sgt. Bryant Leverett, from the Albany Police Department and event coordinator.
Those athletes will travel to Atlanta on May 20th to compete in the Special Olympics.
