ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A community effort to feed the homeless in downtown Albany takes a leap forward.
Feed Albany has been serving weekly meals since Thanksgiving.
After complaints from businesses about people gathering for the meals near their establishments, the organization found a new home at a church.
Volunteers served meals at Amehr Center for the first time Wednesday evening.
"It really expanded our possibilities," said "Feed Albany" organizer Tosh Sever. "By being able to collaborate with this ministry along with Pastor Screen and the Alive Center."
"The big thing is that unity, collaboration," said Bishop Victor L. Powell of Amehr Center. "Doing things together to help people. No big yous and big I's and little yous, it's about coming together helping people."
Feed Albany will serve meals each Wednesday from 5 to 6 at the church on West Oglethorpe Boulevard.
