AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

The police chief is reminding you never to give out your personal banking information after recent scams.

A person posing as a government official called at least one business telling them they received a grant. The chief reminds you that real companies never call you like this.

“A legitimate business that is going to give you money, they'll send you a check. They don't need your bank account. Anytime someone comes and contacts, and then ask you for your personal bank information, that's a scam,” said Americus Police Chief Mark Scott.

Call police and file a report if you feel like you've been targeted.
