A Colquitt County deputy stopped a woman driving in the 1400 block of Georgia Highway 319 North, near Moultrie Friday.
Alyssa Adams, who had a Macon address, told the officer she was enroute to pick up her boyfriend from the hospital, but could not say what hospital, or where it was.
Investigators said Adams was driving 90 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.
The deputy suspected she was impaired, and asked to search the Lincoln Town Car she was driving.
He stuck his head into the car, and was overwhelmed by a very strong odor he could not identify, and had to pull back and get some fresh air.
He found a two-year-old baby girl and a four-year-old boy in the back seat. The boy was sitting on the floorboard with his head on the seat.
As the car was searched, he found what looked to be a drug pipe, a gun, and several rounds of ammo, a digital scale, and what appeared to be rock cocaine, or a substance resembling it.
Adams was arrested and charged with DUI – drugs, a seatbelt violation, felonious violation of the Georgia controlled substance act, driving on an expired license, and driving under influence drugs.
The children are now with the paternal grandmother in Macon.
