LEE CO., GA (WALB) - This month's primary election is coming up and one Lee County group is wanting voters to be informed when it comes to casting their ballots.
"It's critical. I mean otherwise the election is strictly name recognition. Who do you know? Does that name ring a bell? And that's worthless for selecting a good candidate," forum organizer Mike Sabot says.
The Lee County GOP is sponsoring a candidate forum on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Grand Island Golf Course starting at 8:00 a.m.
Candidates in the primary election will each get five minutes to speak and then answer questions from the voters.
This is the first candidate forum for the Lee County GOP. Organizers say it was needed in the community.
"We have a large field this year, especially in the probate and superior court. And there's no way for people to really find out who these people are and what the candidates do," Sabot adds.
The primary election is set for Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
