The Thomasville Police Department is conducting Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety Road Checks in various areas of the city.
The annual road check event takes place at select locations to maintain traffic safety and get drivers under the influence off the road.
Police will also be on the look out for uninsured drivers, and drivers who leave themselves and children unbuckled while traveling.
Smith Avenue and the intersection of Covington Avenue will be the first areas to be monitored. Locations are subject to change later.
Road checks may go on until 11 p.m. or midnight.
The time limit officials will spend at locations depends on the traffic in the area.
