ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia presented an Albany bakery with a culinary award.
Smallcakes won the second annual Girl Scout Cookie Culinary Competition.
They won with a cupcake creation using Samoas.
They also entered a creation using thin mints.
The sweet treats were entered into the competition during National Girl Scout cookie weekend in February.
"We made a chocolate, coconut cake and then we topped it with a caramel coconut butter cream and fudge and caramel and a Samoa right on top and everyone seemed to love it," said Lindsay Bridges, Smallcakes Owner.
"It was wonderful," said Christine Branham, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Product Sales Manager. "Everyone loved it and we got a really big great response with it in the community."
Girl Scouts have been selling cookies for about 100 years to raise money to support their programs.
They sell around 200 million boxes each year.
