MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Students in Moultrie met with a celebrity chef to learn the importance of food and where it comes from.
Chef Art Smith spoke to students at Cox Elementary School Thursday.
Smith spoke with the students about the small vegetable garden they recently planted behind the school.
He said he hopes the gardens will inspire them to learn about the importance of agriculture and about the effort farmers and chefs put in to making the food they enjoy.
"That makes sure you have future farmers. That makes sure you have people that are engaged enough in the growing of food that want to be a part of it," said Chef Smith.
The students are also using newly donated weather instruments from WeatherSTEM to use in the gardens.
