A second grader was killed in a car crash on his way to school, Monday morning about 7:20, on U.S. 82 between Sasser and Dawson.
The Georgia State Patrol said today that the child is identified as Jamaree Lewis, 8, of Dawson.
A trooper says 72-year-old Jessica Moore was driving east when she ran slightly off the road.
She over-corrected, and her minivan went into a tailspin, clipping another van traveling in the opposite direction. Her 8-year-old grandson was unbuckled, and was ejected from the vehicle.
Jamaree was a student at Sherwood Acres, and grief counselors will be available today at the school for students and faculty.
