WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

The candidates in the Worth County Commission Chairman's race met the voters Monday night.

Mike Cosby has been chairman since 2013.

He's being challenged by Fred Dent who spent 16 years on the commission.

Both men want to improve fire protection, stabilize county finances and offer more recreational activities.

"Get the County's finances in order, expand the fire department and improve fire protection throughout the county," said Worth County Chairman Mike Cosby.

"The way the county is going in the last few years we've gone from a solid financial position to a broke position and I want to restore the financial stability of the county," explained Worth County Chairman candidate Fred Dent.

Cosby said that there are already plans to use sales tax revenue for more recreation, to renovate the government building and courthouse and to purchase more ambulances.
