ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of students received their associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates during Albany Tech's graduation Thursday night.

The commissioner for the Technical College System of Georgia, Gretchen Corbin, was the keynote speaker.
Evelyn Jenkins earned her culinary arts degree.
Jenkins is a student of the year finalist and says after three years of unemployment she needed to reinvent herself and found her passion.

"My plans are to continue and get my associate degree, but we do know that man plans his ways, but God orders its steps,” said Evelyn M. Jenkins, Graduate.

"We know that we are preparing our students so that they meet the workforce needs of our companies and that they will go on into great careers as well as into additional higher education,” said Gretchen Corbin, Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner.

More than 100 high school students were recognized for graduating through Albany Tech's Move on When Ready program.
