18 players were picked on the USMC Soccer team based on their resumes, from all across the world.
Some Marines have come as far as Japan and Hawaii to participate in this tournament. These marines have been practicing in Albany for the past week, preparing for their tournament May 7th in Fort Benning.
That's when all of the armed forces soccer team will meet to determine who has the best team in the armed forces this year.
The team also has a scrimmage against Thomas College this Saturday.
"The Marine Corps has been like my family in a sense. So everybody in the team plays with that mindset, that we are a big family. We are representing this, this comes from the heart," said head coach MSGT Mario Morales.
"We need that kind of outlet. Soccer is one thing that we all love together, and it gives you that freedom to let go of everything. All the stresses of work, and just get out and play something we love," said SSGT Rocky Fredin.
The USMC team will continue practicing next week at the MCLB. Their first game will be against the Air Force May seventh at Ft. Benning.
