AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Family members of an Americus man killed over the weekend want justice for his death. Brandon Douglas was stabbed, and his girlfriend Kierra Warren is in jail charged with murder. It's unclear what led to their argument Saturday morning.
His family describes the last few days as a blur and a nightmare. They hope people remember his love for life.
"I can't put into words. It's like I've been in a dream. It's just been the worst experience of our lives," said his mother Valerie Sales-Seay.
Douglas just moved to Texas for what his family calls a fresh start. They can't believe a short trip home turned deadly.
"Joking, fun, we've visited places in Texas. He's met several new friends," said his aunt D-ete Foster.
"Honestly, Brandon was a go-getter. He wasn't the type to just sit there and be like, 'I want this. I want that.' If he wanted it today, tomorrow, Brandon's going to find a way to go get it," said his uncle Bryant Foster.
These family members call Douglas a man of God. They say he was always happy. His mother wants answers. "So I want justice. What happened? Why," said Sales-Seay.
They hope his short life on earth leaves good memories for friends and family of the 23-year-old.
"I hope they remember my first child, as a loving person, as a go-getter, as a person that cared about people. He just wanted to be on top. He wanted to live fast, I know that," said Sales-Seay.
It is The way they're going to remember him.
The funeral will be this weekend.
Kierra Warren remains in jail without a bond.
