CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Having a hospital near means good things for your local economy.
A recent study by the Georgia hospital association found Crisp Regional generated $160 million for the economy in 2014.
The hospital provides more than 1,800 full-time jobs. One business owner said she definitely notices a benefit from the hospital.
"It's probably more of their employees, but I guess it is people that are in town if they've got someone in ICU, somebody having a baby. They may stop in and get a baby gift because they're going to be seeing the family and want to take something," said Lisa Fallaw, owner of Threes Co.
That study also said the hospital provided more than $4 million in uncompensated care for indigent patients.
