ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Allec Williams was the engine that drove the Patriots to a region championship and elite 8 appearance in his senior year.
Friday afternoon the shifty guard signed his letter of intent to Metro State University of Denver.
Williams was sold on the Sports medicine program and winning culture the road runners provide. In the past six seasons, the school has won over 80 percent of their games and has made NCAA Division II tournament five of those seasons.
Williams led the Patriots in points, assists and steals this past season. His coach Dallis Smith often called him the epitome of a student athlete...and the perfect player to build around.
The 6-foot guard is eager to go winter coat shopping and then take his talents to the next level.
"At some point and time you've got to grow up and I feel like this is time for me to grow up," said Williams. "Get away from home, learn how to fend for my own and play basketball. I love to win, I hate to lose. So it's just as simple as that."
Williams said the first thing he's looking forward to do is build a snowman. He'll have ample opportunity to do so out in the Mile High City.
