Southwest Ga. American Red Cross volunteers honored at Chehaw

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Southwest Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross honored their volunteers on Thursday.

The chapter hosted an appreciation event at Chehaw Park sponsored by SERVPRO.

Volunteers popped balloons to see what gifts they would take home.

Connie and Mark Fleetwood have been Red Cross volunteers for five years, providing relief efforts in places like Texas and Louisiana.

The couple said they love helping others. 

"We just enjoy giving back to the community, what the community has already done for us and it's just a way for us to give back," said Mark Fleetwood, Volunteer.

"We just love helping people," said Connie Fleetwood, Volunteer. "We know that we've been blessed and we want to bless other people."

The Chapter has more than 200 volunteers.
