TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Some Georgia Power employees are running across the state to raise money for cancer research.
They kicked off Georgia Power's 19th annual Run for the Reason on Wednesday in Atlanta.
WALB caught up with the 18-member volunteer team on Thursday in Tift County along Highway 82.
It's a non-stop 350 mile run to St. Simons where they will arrive Friday afternoon.
Money raised will go to the American Cancer Society.
"Our company motto going on 100 years has been a citizen where ever we serve. So all of our employees know that motto to be a citizen where ever we serve and so I think they are demonstrating that because they run across the state," said John Kraft, Georgia Power Spokesman.
This team's goal is to raise $75,000.
The project has raised $1.6 million over it's 19 years.
Some of the runners include Kristy Wofford, Bruce Feiman, Cristina Beras and Jimmy Zerkus.
