ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Two Dougherty County deputies were involved in a wreck at 8th Avenue and North Davis Street on Tuesday.
Sheriff Kevin Sproul received a call from a supervisor around 6 p.m. that a unit was involved in an accident.
Sproul said that it appeared by the call that the person driving down North Davis failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by the deputies' unit, which was traveling on 8th Ave.
"A lot of accidents like this, we don't see people walking away too often," said Sheriff Sproul. "They're being carried out on stretchers and even worse can happen."
When the sheriff arrived on the scene, GSP was working the accident.
According to Sproul, GSP was taking the driver of the other vehicle to get blood and breath tests to see if he was intoxicated.
Sheriff Sproul also said that appeared nobody was seriously injured and appeared to be fine, by the two deputies would be getting checked out to receive medical clearance before they can come back to work.
