Americus man robbed while giving man ride home

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Police have a warning tonight after a man was robbed of $2,000 while giving someone a ride home.

Cicero Hill told police a man named “Birty” pulled a gun and robbed him around 8 o'clock Monday night on Norman Cole Street.

Hill said the wad of cash was in the center console in plain sight. Police said all that cash out in the open and a stranger in the car was a bad combination.

“It's very difficult to do good deeds apparently. If you have valuables in your car, and you're going to give an individual a ride, put those valuables out of sight. Make sure you know the person you're giving a ride to or you're trying to help,” said Major Herman Lamar with the Americus Police Department.

No arrests have been made. You're urged to call 911 if you know where Birty is.
