THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - After controversy with its existing drug commander, Thomas County Sheriff Carlton Powell has made a change.
Louis Schofill will replace Kevin Lee as commander. Lee was commander of the drug unit since 2005, but was arrested for DUI in Thomas County in February of last year.
Sheriff Powell placed Lee on suspension without pay.
During that time, Schofill was named the interim commander.
Sheriff Powell says he felt like it was time for a change in leadership.
Schofill, previously and investigator with the Sheriff's office, assumed the new position yesterday.
Lee is still an employee with the county.
