ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman is now charged with murder, in what prosecutors are calling a family violence homicide Saturday.

Charges against 34 year old Kamesha Jackson were upgraded Monday from aggravated assault to murder.

According to police, Jackson stabbed 39 year old Charles Porter in the upper thigh with a knife near 806 Blaylock Street.
It happened during an argument around 4 AM Saturday.

Porter lost a significant amount of blood and was transported to the hospital.
He died around four Saturday afternoon.

Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said "As I understand it, these persons did live together. And that is how a family violence circumstance is pretty much identified."

Jackson remains in the Dougherty County jail without bond.
Prosecutors say they are studying the police investigation report to determine if any addition charges will be filed.
