CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -

Kids in Camilla got free food at a cookout.

Semaj Griffin cooked out at the Boys and Girls club in Camilla all afternoon.

He hopes to target young kids to raise their awareness to violence and crime, and how important it is to avoid that lifestyle.

"So that's what we're trying to do. Come together and address it. Make it a big deal so the next time something like this happens, someone steps in, it doesn't get that far," said Griffin.

Griffin fed about 100 meals to the community in the event.
