ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

As an historically black university...Albany State has one of the many baseball teams in south Georgia that feels the impact Jackie Robinson made integrating the major leagues in 1947.

Many of the golden Rams have had dreams of making the majors since their childhoods.

Their head coach Daniel Stockdale reminds his athletes of the privilege they have today.

"We talk about Jackie Robinson, we celebrate the day, and we're just excited to play the game of baseball at the collegiate level," said Stockdale. "Because of a young man like Jackie Robinson back in 1947, braking down those barriers, we're here today."

Robinson was actually born in Cairo, just over an hour away from ASU's campus.
