CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Cordele Judicial Circuit is celebrating the lives of crime victims this week for crime victims awareness week.

Serving victims, building trusts, and restoring hope is this year's motto for the nationwide initiative. The DA said crime victims are often forgotten after their cases are resolved in court.

"This is a week certainly to celebrate the victims of crime and to remember them, their families, and the pain and suffering that they have gone through, to help serve the victims of crimes and to bring them through these ordeals that have happened in their life," said District Attorney Brad Rigby.

Rigby said around 70 people attended last night's candle light vigil in Cordele for crime victim's and their families.
