ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Last year, we told you about an Albany woman who was waiting to get a kidney. Chakeeta Jones has been on dialysis for 20 years.

She was just 25 years old when her kidneys failed.

We were happy to report yesterday that Albany resident Chakeeta Jones was on her way to Atlanta to get a kidney.  But, when she got to the hospital, she found out the kidney was too small.

She’s back in Albany today, and will soon start a search for a live donor.  She told us she knows that God has a plan for her.

The community has come together to help her raise funds. Last summer a motorcycle run was held for Jones.

She’s been through many surgeries in preparation for the transplant.

We’ll have a full story with Chakeeta Jones soon.  If you would like to see if you can be a donor, you can contact Leann Whitehead at 404-605-4605.
