nearly getting hit by a semi on Interstate 75 while out working early in the morning back in January.
It's an important reminder to watch out for people who are out in the work zone.
On Tuesday, the DOT paid tribute to the 58 Georgia DOT employees who have died in work zone incidents since the 70s.
DOT officials say 58 employees have died in work zone incidents since 1973.
Reminders for drivers who may be traveling in a work zone area:
-Work zones are not always stationary and may move around.
-Make sure up wear your seatbelt.
-Don't text while you drive, which is illegal in the state of Georgia.
-Drivers should be prepared to move over, or slow down.
-Also, be prepared to stop if you see flashing lights.
