HAZLEHURST, GA (WALB) -

Jeff Davis County Sheriff Preston Bohannon just announced that a mulch-jurisdictional investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 31 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of over a million dollars.

It's the largest drug seizure in Jeff Davis County’s history, and one of the largest in South Georgia history.

Francisco Valencia of Hazlehurst was arrested and charged with trafficking Methamphetamine. He has other charges pending.

A warrant was obtained for the arrest of Jesus Ochoa Valencia, who is on the loose. More arrests are anticipated.

Sheriff Bohannon said "I would like to thank HSI, DEA, Chatham County Narcotics Team (CNT), Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD), GBI/SRDEO Drug Unit, and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Jacksonville Air and Marine Unit for their cooperation, and their combined efforts with the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office Investigators & deputies to make this operation a success."

Bohannon asked citizens who suspect any illegal activity contact the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office with any information on crimes.
