Bypass blocked by fatal wreck

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Traffic on the Liberty Bypass was blocked about 10:00 Tuesday morning, due to a wreck between the Jefferson Street Exit and the Flint River.

APD says one person was killed: Dorothy Mathis, 72, of Albany died when her vehicle struck another car.

Four vehicles were involved.

Austin Sheltra ,19, of Leesburg, who was driving A 2005 Buick Rainier and Stephanie Blount, 42, of Albany, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, were taken to the hospital.

Richard Tuck 46, of Sebring, FL, driving a 2016 Jeep Liberty was not transported.

    Students in Dougherty County will have their state testing a bit later this year.  After seeing how many days students missed in January, the state is allowing them to take the test one week later.  Students will take their Georgia Milestones the week of April 24th.
