ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

The city of Ashburn also has a new Mayor and City Manager.

Former Mayor, Sedric Carithers is now the new city manager.
Mayor Pro tem, Johnny Burgess is now serving as the Mayor.
The two say they want to work on getting more grants for the city to repair roads and housing.
They also want to continue keeping cost down for citizens.
Burgess says the city has been able to save more money now than it has in the past due to cut backs.

"We had like 1.7-million dollars in the bank and since we've been here we have like 2.7-million,” said Johnny Burgess, Ashburn Mayor. “The city of Ashburn has never had 2-million dollars in the bank."

"If I can figure out a way to get some housing assistance to elderly people and couples that would be one of my number one goals,” said Sedric Carithers, Ashburn City Manager.

Carithers is the city's first black City Manager.
Burgess says he plans on running for Mayor in the November election.
