ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Industry Celebration Week for Albany and Dougherty County is April 11-15, 2016.

The week officially kicked off on Monday, April 11, 2016, with a joint proclamation ready by Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Dougherty County Commission Chairman Christopher Cohilas.

Industry Celebration Week recognizes local industries and how our community benefits from them.

Barbara Rivera Holmes is the Vice President of the Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission which hosts Industry Celebration Week.

“It’s really a wonderful time where our community comes together and recognizes and celebrates the contributions of our existing industries,” Rivera Holmes says.

According to the Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission, nearly 80% of new jobs within a city come from the expansions of existing industries.

Albany-Dougherty County’s Industry Celebration Week continues on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, with a “Business after Hours” starting at 5:00 p.m. at 125 Pine Avenue and a “Rise ‘N Shine Breakfast” on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission has been hosting Industry Celebration Week since 2010.
