ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A military dad deployed overseas for months surprises his two daughters Friday night at their track meet in Albany. Staff Sgt. Jimmy James says he's surprised his daughters before, but with the help of his wife says this surprise is the best one yet.

16-year-old Rebecca James wears number 9 as she competes in the mile run for Warner Robbins High School at the Westover Relays.

"I kept telling myself over there at the last two hundred I can do it, I can do it because my throat was burning so much,” said Rebecca James. “I thought I was going to die."

But what she didn't know was that her father, Staff Sgt. Jimmy James, was waiting to surprise her at the finish line.

"I just wanted to see the joy on their face,” said Staff Sgt. Jimmy James.

James is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was away in Afghanistan for four months.

"I was so happy, I was kind of disappointed because I didn't PR but when I saw my dad I was just happier already,” said Rebecca James.

It's a surprise James' wife set up.

"Every year I try to surprise them and for the past couple of years I wasn't able to do as good of a job and my wife pretty much set this up with the coach and everything,” said Staff Sgt. James. “It worked out pretty good."

The surprise left James' youngest daughter, 14-year-old Carla speechless.

"Shocked,” said Carla James. “Like really shocked. I'm still shaking."

James has been in the Air Force for 12-years and says this is the best surprise he's done by far.

"It definitely worked because I haven't seen their faces like that since 2007,” said Staff Sgt. Jimmy James.

His daughters agree.

"Yes definitely," said Carla.

"Because I thought he was going to be here tomorrow,” said Rebecca.

Staff Sergeant Jimmy James says he is now home for good.
